Asana is defined as a stable and comfortable position of body which gives us physical strength, flexibility, alignment and allows one to achieve mental calmness. There are several asanas in yoga which are named on the basis of how they look and how they influence our body, e.g. utanasanawhich means intense stretch or forward bend, Mayurasanaimitates peacock and so on. Yoga asanas are also practiced in different variations and sequences that has become a trend in modern world.
